Forty years ago, in a small workshop on a picturesque hill in Vermont, a tradition of innovation and craftsmanship was born in Mad River Canoe. In celebration of their 40th Anniversary, they're offering a limited-time special edition of one of their most revered classics: the Explorer Kevlar. Rutabaga has one of them.

 

Hearkening back to aesthetics from limited editions long passed, the 40th Anniversary hull is two-toned red and white with elegantly stained slotted gunwales and contoured cane seats and yoke. The quick, efficient Explorer Kevlar is a rare hull design that can satisfy the most discerning paddler but also welcomes the developing canoeist a combination as unique as the company itself. The original 'rabbit with a habit' icon proudly adorns the bow of the 40th Anniversary celebratory canoe, leading Mad River Canoe into the future with a throwback to their roots.
