Katie Keller started her career with the National Park Service as a Conservation Intern at Isle Royale National Park in 2010. That first season on Isle Royale's isolated archipelago captured her heart and mind, and ever since she has called the Upper Peninsula of Michigan home. In the past ten years she has worked as a Park Ranger at both Isle Royale and its neighboring park in Michigan, Keweenaw National Historical Park. Katie has a Master of Natural Resources with an emphasis on Interpretation and Environmental Education from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. When not "rangering", she can usually be found outside doing something fun, or cooking something delicious with her husband Corey. |

Paddling Isle Royale During Changing Visitation

Isle Royale National Park offers unique opportunities for paddling in and around a wilderness island in Lake Superior. In typical years, the challenges facing paddlers are many: the logistics of transporting paddling equipment, the unpredictable, cold waters of Lake Superior, the expense. In 2022, we must now plan for these challenges along with COVID considerations and new visitation dynamics. Join Ranger Katie Keller to explore Isle Royale COVID considerations, island transportation options, paddling routes, and a look at how visitation has changed since COVID.
