Recreational Kayaking
Recreational kayaks are easy to paddle, hard to tip, and fit any body shape or
type - they're built so anyone can experience kayaking. Join us on the water so
you can discover why paddling recreational kayaks is so popular and so much fun!

Sea Kayaking
If you dream of paddling adventures on larger bodies of water, close to home
or around the world, then sea kayaking is for you! Learn a few basics of sea
kayaking and find out how much fun it is to paddle these narrower, longer and
faster kayaks.

Tandem Canoeing
Many of us have had some canoeing experience, but knowing a few simple
strokes can help ensure a relaxed evening paddle on the lake. Come learn a few
basics and discover how easy it can be to paddle together.

On land clinics - attend as many as you want!

Dressing for Paddling
Discover what clothing and footwear works best for paddling during the warm
season ahead. Learn how to layer for cool spring days and how to protect
yourself from the sun and bugs of summer.

Efficient Kayak Strokes
Make every stroke count. Learning how to get maximum efficiency from your
stroke will help you use your body to its best ability and cover the miles with
ease. If you've heard the phrase 'torso rotation', but aren't sure what that means,
this is the clinic to find out.

Kayak Fishing
Come learn the secrets of fishing from a kayak or canoe. Learn what gear you'll
need, how to rig your boat, where to go and the best fish to catch. If you're
curious about fishing, this session is for you!

Paddling Accessories
You're going paddling, but what should you take, and how will you take it with
you? We'll show you options for taking things with you in the boat - dry bags and
boxes for your keys, ID, money, maps and food. We'll also show you several
ways to carry water, and leashes for your paddle.

Picking the Right Boat
Trying to choose a boat can be overwhelming, especially when faced with the
seemingly endless variety available in the marketplace. Your goal is to find the
boat that fits your needs and your budget. If you want a step-by-step approach to
finding the canoe or kayak that works best for you, this is the clinic for you!

Transporting Your Boat
For many of us, a big challenge to getting on the water is how to get your boat
from home to the landing. Let us show you some tricks to make moving your boat
a smooth and easy process. The session will cover transporting your boat to and
from your car, options for transporting canoes and kayaks, and tie-downs to keep
your boat safely on your car.

Where to Paddle & Whom to Paddle With
New paddlers often ask: Where can I paddle? Whom can I paddle with?
Discover some of our favorite local waterways as you learn how to use popular
guidebooks and maps. Learn about local paddling clubs and other opportunities
to paddle with others, making getting out on the water much more fun!

Yoga for Paddlers
Get your body and mind ready for paddling! Yoga is an excellent way to increase
your flexibility, balance, and strength. Come learn a few basic yoga moves that
will help you increase your stamina and comfort on the water and back on land.

Lunchtime Demonstrations:
There is so much to learn when it comes to paddling that we cant cover it all
in one day. Through our lunchtime demonstrations, we have the opportunity
to show you what else is available to you in the paddling world and inform you
of the additional classes we have to offer. All the skills you see during our
demonstrations are taught in classes you can take with us at Rutabaga Outdoor
Programs.
