"Might as Well Have the Best" has been the motto of C.C. Filson for over a century. Their main clothing items have evolved somewhat, but many of their patterns are identical to the original one.

Why buy these "outdated old chestnuts?" Simple. If it ain't broke, don't break it. No one balks at a century-old yacht design, an antique from the 1800s, a portrait from the Renaissance.
