One of the best features of rack accessories is that they are dreadfully easy to install and uninstall. With most of the accessories, you can remove them in less than a minute. Great, right?
Well, there is a darker side to this. Some accessories are quite costly. To keep honest people honest; adding an accessory lock core is a good idea. Just replace the regular wing nut with the accessory lock core housing and you're secure.
If the accessory you want to use doesn't accept a lock core (like the gunwale brackets, for instance), you can add a nine-foot cable to your security team. These cables accept a lock core and you still have SKS-compatible setup. Great for canoes or kayaks, or slipping through a bunch of unlocked bikes and through the crossbar.

Whistling and some wind noise is expected; after all, you're hanging a big canoe, kayak or bikes out there. You can reduce this noise if you add a fairing, which directs the flow of air over the main portion of the rack, thus reducing the wind noise. Simple physics.
