The new normal is constant change. Please keep an eye on this page for updates on how you can shop with us, and the precautions we are taking to keep our customers and employees safe.

HOW TO SHOP WITH US

IN-STORE: We require that all customers wear a mask while shopping in the store and maintain a 6 foot distance from staff and other customers. We are happy to accommodate you outside the shop if you cannot wear a mask. Please see below for the safety measures we are taking to keep you and our staff safe while you shop.

VIRTUAL SHOPPING APPOINTMENTS: Virtual shopping is available during store hours: Monday - Saturday 10am - 6pm. Give us a call at 608-223-9300 to make an appointment. We will meet with you over Zoom or Facebook Messenger video chat - your choice. We'll set up a time at your convenience, assign the right person to help you based on their expertise, and away you go. It's safe, easy, saves gas, and you get the one-on-one service you'd expect if you came to the store in the flesh.

BY PHONE: Call us at 608-223-9300 during business hours and place an order over the phone. You can choose either curbside pickup or shipping for your order. We will do our best to fulfill orders the day they are placed.

ONLINE: Shop online and choose either curbside pickup or shipping to receive your order. If you would like to pick up your order the same day, please place a phone order rather than an online order. See below for details regarding curbside pickup.

CURBSIDE PICKUP DETAILS: When your order is ready to be picked up you will receive a confirmation email. Orders are processed Monday through Friday. We do our best to fulfill orders made before 5pm the same day they are placed, and fulfill orders made after 5pm by noon the following business day.
When you arrive at the store, you have two options to pick up your order:
1) Zero-Contact Pickup: Pull into one of the parking spaces at the front of the store. Stay in your vehicle and call us at 608-223-9300. An employee will bring your order out to you and load it into the trunk of your car. If you don't get through to us on your first attempt, please call again; we will answer your call as quickly as we are able.
2) In-Store Pickup: Come into the store, wearing a mask, and ask at the main registers for an employee to retrieve your web order for you.

RACK INSTALLATION APPOINTMENTS: Racks are installed on your vehicle outside and at a distance from the customer. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Saturday during business hours, with a $40 installation fee.

LOCAL BOAT DELIVERY: Free boat delivery is available for those within Dane County. If you purchase two boats, the radius can become a bit larger. Ask about this option when you call to purchase your boat. We will keep at a minimum 6 feet away and wear a mask when we deliver your boat(s).

GIFT CARDS: Gift cards are available for purchase online or over the phone with free shipping or curbside pickup. Let us know if you would like to send it as a gift to someone who needs a little love right now.

TEST PADDLING: Test paddling is done for the season. Please check back in spring 2021 for more information. You can read more on our Test Paddling Info page for what to expect.

RETURN POLICY: Our 30-day return policy has the additional safety precaution that any item returned will be disinfected and set aside for 48 hours before we return it to the sales floor.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

MASKS: We are requiring customers to wear a mask while inside our store and during test paddle appointments. We remind you that per a mandate issued by Governor Tony Evers, it is now mandatory to wear a mask indoors in the state of Wisconsin. Our staff will be wearing masks anytime they are working with a customer (indoors or outdoors).

For any special event that Rutabaga hosts outdoors, we will also require all people attending the event to wear masks and practice 6 feet of social distancing.

HAND SANITIZER: We will do our best to keep an ample amount of hand sanitizer available at the entrance to the store for customers and staff to use as they enter and exit.

INCREASED CLEANING MEASURES: We will continue to regularly clean frequently touched surfaces in our store and supply sanitizer and wipes at each register.

6 FOOT RULE: All employees have been instructed to maintain a distance of 6 feet from customers, and we request that all customers respect the 6-foot rule as well while shopping with us.

CHECKOUT: We will only be using registers that are sufficiently spaced from each other to maintain social distancing rules.

EMPLOYEE SAFETY MEASURES: Our employees will continue to practice internal safety measures with frequent hand washing, regular cleaning of shared surfaces, and staying home from work if they are experiencing any symptoms.
