Join us for a trip across town via Wingra Creek! We'll put in at Vilas Park, do a short portage around the Wingra dam and meander our way down Wingra Creek to where it lets out on Lake Monona. This is a hidden gem that makes you feel like you aren't even in town anymore on some stretches of the creek. You could call this a "Boating for Brunch" trip since we'll be ending the trip right at the height of Brunch Hour and Waypoint Public House is right next door! We'll meet at Rutabaga Paddlesports, shuttle participants to the put-in, and launch for a day of paddling enjoyment.
Canoe or recreational kayak and corresponding equipment are included in the price but you are welcome to bring your own boat. We will be in touch in advance of the trip to ask which type of boat you would like for the trip.
Trip participant minimum is 4 so the trip may be cancelled if we don't reach our minimum.
This trip is part of our Canoe Camping Skill Builder (CCSB) Series. This is a series of camp skills and canoe trips that lead up to our 3 day Northern Highlands American Legion (NHAL) State Forest Canoe Camping Trip on Sept. 3rd, 4th and 5th. For more information about the series and how to get on the trip, please click the link below. These clinics are open to everybody but only those who purchase the CCSB package can participate in the NHAL Trip on September.
