Wabakimi Wilderness Park is the world's largest paddling area (5 times the size of BWCA or Quetico!). Unspoiled: 700 paddlers per year! Wabakimi outfitters is the only full service outfitter for this huge park (twice the size of Yellowstone or Connecticut). Biologist Bruce Hyer had a dream in the 1970's, and stuck with it through many decades of "Wabakimi Wars" with loggers and mineral companies. Hyer knows the park like the proverbial back-of-hand, and made many of the portages and routes. Email him anytime at Bruce@Wabakimi.com. Wabakimi Outfitters is a family biz, and supplies: Permits * Maps (including a special "Planning Map" * Route Planning (free for clients) * Shuttles by truck, bush train, and floatplane * Pre or Post-trip lodge accommodations (free for canoeing clients!) * Fly-in and train-in remote outposts for fishing and families * Guided and do-it-yourself trips * Full or partial outfitting * Rentals of Kevlar or Royalex canoes * and more! Wabakimi has: Both whitewater and flatwater routes * Rare woodland caribou (on most routes, you are more likely to see a caribou than a human!) * Eagles (bald and golden) * Wolverines and other rare wildlife * easy trips... or challenging ones! Short... or long. * Unspoiled TRUE wilderness * Incredible fishing for walleyes, huge northern pike, and trout. The paddling season goes from ice-out (May 15?) through September.
