Dillenschneider Designs manufactures and sells the One-Arm Freedom™ canoe paddle. Our design enables people with upper limb impairments to be full participants in all disciplines of flatwater canoeing. Our business journey began with a commitment to facilitate inclusion of people of all abilities paired with a deep appreciation of the transformative power of wilderness experiences. As wilderness canoeists, we were aware that traditional canoe paddles didn't work for people with arm and hand disabilities. Other people made prototypes and one-off paddles to meet individual needs, but our commitment to inclusion compelled us to do more. We were determined to create a universally designed paddle that allowed beginners to enjoy recreational canoeing and would meet the demands of users with high-performance aspirations. We established Dillenschneider Designs LLC to make the One-Arm Freedom paddle available in the marketplace. Today, we produce and sell the One-Arm Freedom canoe paddle, and continue to improve and adapt our design to changing needs of families, programs, and adaptive athletes. Current users of the One-Arm Freedom include recreationists, canoe outfitters, adaptive recreation programs, and racers.
