The EXPED story began with the personal outdoor experiences of Heidi and Andi Brun. In 1981, the Swiss adventurers lived in the northern Canadian wilderness for nine months, spending the long winter in a log cabin built with their own hands. Hunting, fishing and gathering plants allowed them to subsist directly from, and in balance with, nature. Improvising in their everyday life with minimal resources, and the freedom this approach allowed, inspired them to get involved in the development of functional outdoor gear. The less-is-more philosophy they followed on that trip compelled them to start a gear company - EXPED, short for expedition equipment ("your expedition"). Today, the EXPED team embraces their spirit of adventure and Swiss heritage by refining every detail and removing the unnecessary.
