DFS stages hands on classes open to all in homesteading skills, folk arts, nature skills, and more, with lengths ranging from 2 hours to 5 days. Thoreau College is a residential microcollege located in Viroqua, Wisconsin offering immersive gap semester programs for young adults including expeditions, philosophy, spirituality, and literature, fine arts, manual labor in agriculture, cooking, and building, and participation in shared community self-governance. Together, the Driftless Folk School and Thoreau College form one grassroots cultural non-profit offering community education for the whole person. bookmark
