  Scott & Emilie Burditt

www.daddaughterexplore.com

Emilie fell in love at the age of 3: first with a toad, then with the outdoors during her first wilderness trip to Canada. Since then, she's paddled more than 1,000 miles of Quetico. When she's not paddling or winter camping with her dad, Emilie can be found cruising the dog park with her best pal, Teddie. An advocate for the environment, Emilie tries to make the world a little greener each day. She studies anthropology and journalism at UW-Madison. After she graduates in May, she's packing her bags and thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail.

Scott's love of the great outdoors led him to declare forestry as his college major. But a D in forestry class inspired him to consider journalism and advertising. That's okay. He never wanted to look at trees from a canoe and think, wow, beautiful Abies balsamea. He's been paddling Quetico since high school. Scott is a proud dad, a lucky husband and a dog lover.

Dad, Daughter & Quetico's Death March Portage
Loon - upstairs Sat 1:30pm-2:15pm

Would you plan a canoe trip with your daughter around a 4.2-mile portage called Death March? Find out why this duo made crossing this portage, located in the middle of Ontario's 1.2M-acre Quetico Park, the focus of their vacation. Hear about their preparation, how they arrived at the portage, and the obstacles they encountered while crossing. Perhaps most interesting to any dads and daughters out there, hear what they expected to gain and what they learned about each other. Then take home some tips for your own trip across Death March, or your own version of it.
