Chris Amidon began his career with the National Park Service as a volunteer in 2001, and has gone on to work as a ranger at Wind Cave National Park, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Voyageurs National Park, and now Isle Royale National Park. Over the years, with people from across the country, he has explored caves, hiked shorelines, and paddled waterways in the hopes of fostering a deep appreciation of our National Parks.

Isle Royale National Park offers unique opportunities for paddling in and around a wilderness island in Lake Superior. In typical years, the challenges facing paddlers are many: the logistics of transporting paddling equipment, the unpredictable, cold waters of Lake Superior, the expense. In 2021, we must now plan for these challenges with COVID care in mind. Join Ranger Chris Amidon to explore Isle Royale COVID considerations, island transportation options, paddling routes, and an update on the wolf relocation project.
