He is president of The Outdoor Kind, LLC, a company founded specifically to conduct outdoors safety-education outreach and raise funds for wilderness first responders. He organized the 2018 Yukon Journey Charitable Canoe and Kayak Expedition, and hopes to return to the historic river to raise more funds in 2021.

As testament to her skills, she was awarded the Emergency Responder of the Year for her exemplary work there. Living in a northwestern Wisconsin tourist area, she is well versed on many potential problems experienced by outdoors enthusiasts. When not working as general manager of Hidden Greens North golf course, Krista also enjoys fishing, outdoors cooking with her family, and reading EMT textbooks...for fun!

Scott’s particular passions are wilderness canoe camping, winter camping, and teaching and practicing survival skills. He is a Registered Maine Guide, Wilderness First Responder, Minnesota Master Naturalist, and a volunteer instructor with the Boy Scout’s national High Adventure program based in the Boundary Waters. That's why this panel, focusing on real-world safety, is so valuable. Learn tips from longtime paddlers Kevin Callan, Scott Oeth and John Van Barriger, as well as certified Emergency Medical Responder Krista Martineau. In addition to topics suggested by the panelists themselves, the group will field questions submitted live from the Canoecopia virtual audience as well.
