(in-person)   Algonquin - main floor Sun 10:30am-11:15am

What do you do when calling 911 is not an option and someone is ill or hurt? Or, even if you could call 911, help is hours or even days away? What can you do about anaphylactic shock, hemorrhage, broken bones, dislocated shoulders, puncture wounds? This presentation could serve as a great introduction and motivation to take a wilderness medicine course, or serve as a great review if you have.

 Paddling the Apostle Islands
(in-person)   Superior - main floor Sat 9:30am-10:15am
(available virtually)
The Apostle Islands are one of the best places in the world to sea kayak! Some history and wonderful wilderness landscapes will be reviewed in this presentation. Focus will center on what the Apostles are like and what it takes to be safe and prepared to paddle in this special National Lakeshore Park.

What Everyone Should Know About Cold Water Paddling
(in-person)   Caribou - upstairs Fri 5:30pm-6:15pm
(in-person)   Bear - upstairs Sat 1:30pm-2:15pm
(available virtually)
So, you say you'll stay warm & dry?! Famous last words! Cold water goes with paddling in the mid-west. Cold water immersion and hypothermia is one of the biggest dangers paddlers face. To stay safe, it's necessary to have a healthy respect for the cold waters we paddle. Neal will cover how to prevent, recognize and potentially treat cold water injuries. This presentation could save your life!
