||Babs Smith is the author of Day Tripping, Kayak Wisconsin, Door County Peninsula: Bluffs, Beaches, Lighthouses, and Shipwrecks and her new book Day Tripping, Kayak Wisconsin, Lake Michigan Water Trail, Sturgeon Bay to Chicago. Babs, and her brother Rick, hope that their experience exploring Wisconsin's Lake Michigan shoreline, helps you enjoy the incredible beauty of our newly designated Shipwreck Coast, NOAA's newest National Marine Sanctuary!
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, has now designated a National Marine Sanctuary in Lake Michigan. The first in Wisconsin, and less than 15 overall in the United States! Explore Lake Michigan's Shipwreck Coast with sandy beaches, towering bluffs, and state parks. Enjoy the harbor towns of Two Rivers, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and Port Washington with their lighthouses and urban coast. And, of course, the shipwrecks that lay beneath our kayaks near shore.
