||Al and Marsha Fairfield retired to da UP and live just down the road from Sylvania Wilderness. Both have been active as volunteers and instructors at Maywood Environmental Park and North Lakeland Discovery Center. Marsha is a certified kayak instructor and WI Master Naturalist. Al's background in biology and ecology provides a foundation for his enjoyment of the outdoors. Both enjoy sharing their love of paddling, fishing, and adventuring.
The Sylvania Wilderness lakes offer a unique fishing experience. Special regulations have preserved an exceptional opportunity to catch quality bass as well as pike, panfish, and even lake trout. See the gear they use as well as practical demonstrations of effective techniques. Learn which lakes to fish, seasonal patterns, best baits and techniques to catch fish when you visit Sylvania. The unique biology and ecology of the lakes will be discussed as well as effective catch and release techniques.
Sylvania Wilderness is a mini boundary waters experience practically in Al & Marsha's backyard. Old growth forest, pristine lakes, unique ecology, and colorful history make this a great paddlers destination. This is a wilderness paddling and camping destination you don't want to miss.
