A biologist turned metalsmith and former kayaking guide, Lissa Flemming is the award-winning creative force behind Silverwaves Jewelry in Bayfield, WI.. Her unique perspective and travels, fuel organic jewelry designs which masterfully incorporate the majestic beauty of Lake Superior and the natural world. “I finally figured out where I should be: hand-forging jewelry next to the Lake I respect and love. It took a while, but every adventure, sorrow, joy, moonrise, cup of tea, workshop, etc has brought me to where I am and is reflected in my jewelry designs. I am inspired by Lake Superior and its waves and ripples; the trees moving in the breeze and the pebbles along the shore. Stop by her booth every year at Canoecopia, visit her website, or come to her shop on the shores of the Apostle Islands.

Jeff Rennicke is a nationally-known writer and photographer as well as the Executive Director of Friends of the Apostle Islands. He is the author of such books as Treasures of Alaska (published by the National Geographic Society) and Jewels on the Water: Lake Superior's Apostle Islands, as well as over 300 magazine articles in Canoe, Backpacker, National Geographic Traveler, and others. His photography has appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Reader's Digest, Backpacker, and more and has been exhibited in the American Museum of Natural History.
