He regularly organizes & leads trips in the Apostle Islands, where he has paddled to or around all 22 islands. He owns a company, Whitecap Kayak, a business that mentors youth in leadership skills through kayak guiding & instructions, while doing guided trips in the Apostle Islands. He is an ACA L5 Coastal Kayak instructor, L4 Whitewater instructor & L4 Coastal Kayak Instructor Trainer Educator. He is an Advanced Wilderness Life Support, & Wilderness First Responder instructor. |

So, you say you’ll stay warm & dry?! – famous last words! Cold water goes with paddling in the Midwest. Cold water immersion and hypothermia is one of the biggest dangers paddlers face. To stay safe, it’s necessary to have a healthy respect for the cold waters we paddle. We will consider how to prevent, recognize, and potentially treat cold water injuries. This presentation could save your life!
