Also Presenting With

Anthea Halpryn
Anthea Halpryn is an ACA River Kayak instructor, ultra-endurance racer, and dedicated advocate for the paddling community. Her love for kayak camping and adventure paddling fuels her passion for exploring the natural world, while her commitment to community service drives her involvement with key paddling organizations. Anthea recently completed the MR340, one of the longest paddle races in the Country. Anthea serves on the board of the Illinois Paddling Council, the Des Plaines Marathon Canoe and Kayak Race, and helps with the St. Charles Canoe Club, where she helps to promote and organize paddling events, fostering growth in the sport across the region.

Scott Hays
Scott Hays resides outside of Champaign, IL on Central Illinois’ Sangamon River, aka: “Lincoln’s River”. He is President of the Illinois Paddling Council and helped found his local river group, the Upper Sangamon River Conservancy. He regularly paddles the Sangamon River from his backyard launch and has been paddling canoes and kayaks since his teen years growing up in North Florida, filled with fond memories of overnight trips on the Suwannee River and through Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp. He is a retired Senior Research Scientist with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

James Tracy
James is a kayaker from Aurora IL. He began kayaking in 2014, and got serious about it after learning about the hundreds of river miles that were within a 2 hour drive of home. This kicked off a personal quest of exploration, and he now does multi day trips across the midwest, competes in races, paddles hundreds of miles each year, and serves on the Illinois Paddling Council. James is also an ACA River Kayak instructor.
