Abby CichockiAbby learned to canoe through various summer camps, but was truly bitten by the paddling bug in 2022 when she went on a five day canoe trip in the BWCA with her girl scout troop. Abby has since completed two seasons as a professional canoe guide and WEMT for both Northern Lakes Canoe Base and Northern Tier High Adventure. In the summer of 2025, Abby paddled 1,381 miles over 80 days as part of the Hudson Bay Girls’ journey from Lake Superior to the Arctic Ocean. The Hudson Bay Girls were the first all-female crew to publicly paddle the entire route, starting at Grand Portage and ending at York Factory.Megan WindMegan was born and raised in Minnesota and took many trips to the Northwoods throughout her life. This fueled her love for the outdoors and passion for paddling, hiking, camping, climbing, and snowboarding. Megan now lives in Ely MN next to the Boundary Waters, and is passionate about storytelling, visual media, protecting the environment and planning adventures in the woods.

There are a million ways to pack your food for a canoe-based wilderness excursion, and everyone has systems and tricks to learn from one another. In this session, you will learn from Gillian on how to pack your trip food seamlessly and efficiently day by day, and get examples of meal plans with ingredients lists that accommodate several dietary restrictions while still promoting a brick-like packing system.
