Blake went on his first canoe trip in 2014 to the Boundary Waters through scouting and was instantly hooked. He began working as a guide in the Boundary Waters in 2016 and moved to Ely full-time in 2021. His passion is canoeing and loves all aspects of the sport, from whitewater rivers to calm clear lakes. His competitive side has also come out in canoeing, regularly racing in Minnesota, and completing the Yukon 1000 in 2022. |

Amos Kolodji
Amos grew up paddling with his parents in Ely while his mom ran the Girl scout canoe base. He started guiding for the Boy Scouts in 2018 and Guides for five summers after worh he went on his first long trip, an 88 day trip to the Hudson Bay with five friends he guides with. He’s been living in Ely ever since teaching middle school math and spending summers paddling and biking while trying to share as much as possible worh his students.
